Scott Clabaugh has been our contractor for multiple projects over the last 5 years. Scott and his wife were actually clients of my wife's photography business and after learning he was a general contractor, we asked him to put together a quote for us on a kitchen remodel in our Ijamsville home. He was very transparent with us about his pricing (I'm a finance person) so we asked him to do the job for us. The kitchen turned out beautiful and a year later, when we decided to sell our home, it was the kitchen that sold our house in 3 days during a relatively cold market. Our next home in downtown New Market was a completely different challenge - 217 years old and not a 90-degree corner to be found. During a 2-week rent-back, Scott and his team were able to oversee the complete turnkey installation of a 3-zone HVAC system (from scratch, no duct work including running gas lines and upgrading electrical service), a complete bathroom gut/remodel with a tiled shower and heated floor, and more trim projects than I can remember.
The next project that Scott tackled for us was a kitchen overhaul in this home. This involved gutting down to the studs, moving windows, doors, water lines, gas lines, leveling a two-level concrete slab floor, installing 900 sq. ft of rough walnut flooring, building a pantry, all while retaining the hidden gems buried within the drywall (original siding, chestnut posts, etc.). The end result stops people in their tracks when they walked in. The most recent project was the conversion of roughly 1600 sq. ft of barn space on our property into a photography studio. This was completed as a commercial space with ADA compliance throughout. The space includes a wide open shooting area, office space, sitting room, full bath, and lots of storage. The challenge with this project was permitting and with Scott, we never had to worry about it. It's now an incredible spot and has added tremendous value to our property. Scott has a key to our house, let's himself in without knocking, and even the dogs accept him as one of the family. To me, that's the most important part.
